Recycling Dollars - Save Here, Spend There

I have really gotten into couponing in the past few months and it has been lots of fun.  It takes a few weeks to build up a coupon stash and then you can really find some good bargains with a little time and homework.  There are a lot of good websites that take a big piece of the homework out of the equation by posting regular updates on where to find the best buys and coupon usage at a lot of the popular stores, ie Target, Walmart, Walgreens and some of the top grocery stores.  One of the best sites that is all-inclusive is couponmom.com

A magazine that is a must have is All You, published monthly and chock full of great coupons for items you purchase regularly.  I have a subscription and usually pick up a couple extra each month.

Not only is the magazine full of coupons (usually around $100 total), it has some great articles and good tips on living the good life.  The best part, it is only $1.88 at WalMart.  This might be a limited time price cut at WalMart, but even if that is the case, you will still get the magazine price back by just using a couple of the coupons.

There is a show on TLC Network called Extreme Couponing which is entertaining to watch because you might pick up a good tip but hopefully not the obsessive compulsion displayed ....keep it fun people.  On Extreme Couponing, the couponer usually spends $50 or less on a haul totalling upwards of $1000....come on....how is that even possible.  I now save about $40 weekly on my grocery bill and I have a stockpile of extra food items, paper items, personal care items etc.  That is pretty darn good and makes me happy, and I even get to pick up free items every now and then, which is really fun.  The amount of money you can save is dependant upon the time committed in researching, getting away from the one-stop shopping mentality and being smart.

Do you coupon...do you have any great tips to share?

You really can save.....and have fun....with just a little time and effort.  It's like treasure hunting.  Give it a try.

I'd like to try to get into this habit {again}, Anita. You've done well and I'd be happy with a $40.00 savings. I used to clip coupons, do rebates and send for free things all the time years ago when my kids were younger and I was a stay at home Mom. My problem is finding the time to find all these coupons. I don't mind driving to more than one store, but its finding the time to search out and clip/print the coupons.

Thanks for the tips, Anita! I need to get back into my All You subscription. I haven't seen Extreme Couponing yet, but it sounds like a fun show to watch!

Thanks so much for joining my Weekend Bloggy Reading party (and for linking back-I appreciate that!). Hope you'll stop by Serenity Now again soon. :)

Anita, my daughter has been doing amazing things with coupons! My hat is off to both of you! My past attempts as couponing have been embarassingly pitiful. LOL! blessings ~ tanna
