My List Dilemma

How do you cope when your list of things to do becomes so large that you can't decide where to start.  I have so many things to do - some that I have started but not finished and some that I would love to see completed before Christmas.  I'm starting to feel a bit stressed and I refuse to enter the season in that mood.

The really sad thing is that this is just the first page of a very long list and doesn't include the smaller items, like decorating the tree, baking etc, which of course will have to be done no matter what.  I also have a glider to recover for my daughter's nursery (remember new GB in Dec!!) and two computers that I have promised to work on for family to remove computer viruses and restore function.

I'm thinking about breaking the projects down into smaller timeframes that I can apply after work during the week and when I'm not otherwise engaged on the weekends - This time of year is always so busy and coming up  - two of the Grandbabes birthday parties, Thanksgiving, North Pole Limited Train Excursion, Downtown Starlite Parade, Christmas shopping trips, birth of GB number 4 and Cookie Swap party.

How do you handle your 'To Do' List....I usually have two or three projects going at a time.  I've learned multi-tasking from many years in the Corporate world, so I am now totally incapable of concentrating on one thing before moving to the next...drives my Hubs crazy.

All the best,

Sounds like you are on the right track to schedule what you can actually accomplish and leave the rest.....you don't want to be too stressed out to enjoy...so decide what is a MUST do and leave the rest for the new year. It also sounds like you are going to need to schedule in some flex time, too, so don't have too unreasonable expectations of yourself, unless you're planning to hire someone to help you!! :)
Take care, my friend!

OOOOPPS! Hit the enter w/o finishing! I can so relate ...every year I get so caught up in "making the magic happen," perfect house, perfect decorations, gifts, baked goods etc...that I miss the entire season..... and that is sad....last year I had my entire house inside painted right before Xmas walls, ceilings , trim, woodwork, kitchen cabinets...we have 5 bedrooms 4 baths.....even though I had someone do it every single room had to be packed up...it was insane... I had painters here for 3 months....finishing the wk after Thanksgiving.....BUT you never would have known....the house was decorated , gifts, bake goods as usual....I don't know how I did it...maybe my husband would like to tell ya!!!!! Every year I say I want to try to enjoy it more....maybe this will be the one...however I am already stressing.....
Bah-humbug.....hang in there!
Hugs,
Lynn

That looks like a list for 2010. I hope you aren't trying to get these things done before the holidays. Just take two from that list. Glad you are determined to enjoy the holidays!

I feel your pain. I'm a list maker with way to much on my agenda too. I actually will feel much better if I can just get my house cleaned from top to bottom this weekend. (I'm helping my MIL with a jewelry show so don't know how much I'll accomplish.) Maybe I can talk my husband into priming and painting the front posts and ceiling repair in the guest bedroom...so much to do...so little time. :)
