I'd like to share a tip with you for keeping your plates and bowls from being scratched as you are storing them. It's simple, easy and cheap.
Old fashioned paper plates. Just insert a paper plate between your dinner plate, salad plate, salad bowl or charger to ensure there is no contact between the bottom ridge of your plate and the top of the next plate. I've used bubble wrap and fun foam in the past, and while they are adequate, it takes quite a bit of time to cut them to fit. You can purchase the paper plates in two sizes, so they are perfect for larger and smaller plates. You can use the foam plates, but they are not as flexible as the paper and will not flatten out, taking up more space and causing your dish stacks to be a bit woobly.

Great idea, Anita! It makes perfect sense, too! I love your table pictured here. I also love your owl plate in the blog header. I think you said you got that at Home Goods? I saw a nice tablescape set up at Pier 1 this past weekend, but I only noticed it on my way out. I'll have to go back and see what they had laid out.

First of all, thank you so much for that tip of the paper plates! I was just about ready to order some liners and this is a much less expensive alternative. Any tablesetting with checks and polka dots is delightful to me. Making it black, white and red just makes it even better. I really like your cherry centerpiece too.

Anita, I'm glad I scrolled down because I had missed this tablescape earlier. It's lovely. I like the different patterns and textures of this table. I'm also happy to know there is yet another pattern: Hayride. I guess I have plates in the Harvest Village pattern. I didn't know the name. I'll need to look for Hayride.
