What's That Falling From The Sky??

We woke up Saturday morning to a beautiful white wonderland...well, white for our neck of the woods anyway.  Alden and Connor spent the night, so we were up early and I hopped into some warm clothes and ran out to take pictures as I knew the snow would melt away as the day progressed.

My River Birch tree all decked out in winter's finery.

For those of you jaded by the frequent sight of snow, shame on you.  Step back and think of the beauty you are seeing and not of the aggravation, delays ect. and if you can't do that, go South and watch how we deal with snow.  It's like experiencing Christmas through the eyes of a child.

Snow is a true event for a Southerner and especially this time of year.  We get excited when the weatherman whispers of snow, we run to the grocery store at the sight of the first flake and stock up on canned goods, batteries, milk and bread.  We cannot for our lives drive in the stuff but man that does not stop us from running out and getting in our vehicles for an urgent errand that cannot wait....we slide into ditches and bang into each other or have near misses and swear that we will never get out and drive in the snow again...but  then the next time we see snow, we do it again.  It's like childbirth, some things you just forget...as time passes, so do the memories and you only remember the warm fuzzy feelings and not the fact that you want to rip the throat from the father of your child and watch him crawl on the floor begging for mercy.

If you really want to see how ill prepared Southerners are to deal with snow, this next picture of my Mike says it all.

All the best,

Enjoy it! I live in one of those areas where we get it every year. I love looking at it and marvel at how beautiful my surroundings become, but I hate driving in it.

I just stumbled across your blog. Couldn't resist leaving a comment. I also live in the sunny South, and we received about 2 inches of the beautiful snow. I got a chuckle out of your description of southern drivers in the snow. Blessings!
